LGBT Pride is a time of celebration and acceptance of sexual diversity in any of its facets, throughout time rainbow flags have been raised in the numerous parades to represent the LGBTIQ+ community, it is a time to remember and pay tribute to all those people who have fought for the rights of homosexual and transgender people, have led to the path of activism for gender equality.
However, we cannot comment on a society that is more tolerant of members of that community without first addressing a bit of its history.
The first steps on the existence of homosexual people date back to the most ancient societies, such as Babylon and Egypt, in Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire sexuality was lived in a different way, with the arrival of Christianity the perception of sexuality took a radical turn.
Persecutions began to be notorious, during the 19th century in Germany the first movements and organizations in favor of homosexuals and transsexuals were registered, which led to the first achievements for the community.
But it is not until the year 1969 that occurs in New York the Stonewall riot, which begins the renewed LGBT liberation movement, the following year in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and New York, the first liberation marches of the LGBT community on the occasion of the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots are recorded.
